>> 31 May 2002 : Meeting of the TRANSCARDS Inter-Partners Follow-up Committee. Significant results: On 31/12/2001, after 18 months of experimentation, nearly 600 French and Belgian social insurance contributors had already benefited from the TRANSCARDS procedure

>> 26 March 2002 : General Meeting of the Franco-Belgian Health Observatory (OFBS).
The SESAM-VITALE EIG integrates the Franco Belgian Health Observatory as an associate member, in order to contribute its technical expertise to projects registered within the framework of the "INTERREG III" programme.

>> 30 November 2001 : Meeting of the TRANSCARDS Inter-Partners Follow-up Committee.
The partners of the project TRANSCARDS decided:
- to extend the experiment until December 2002,
- to carry out a new assessment of the project in September 2002,
- to maintain the TRANSCARDS system permanently if results remain positive.

A system that has been working
since May 2000 in "Thiérache"

>> TRANSCARDS is a Franco-Belgian project, supported by the European Commission.

>> It enables 100,000 French and 50,000 Belgian patients to access ambulatory and hospital health care facilities in the 8 hospitals in the "Thiérache" region , on both sides of the border.

>> Objective: simplification of administrative procedures for access to health care for border populations.

>> Principle : replacement of administrative paper forms for access to cross-border health care by the use of VITALE and SIS (Belgian Social Security) cards.
